Frequently asked questions.

Do you see people in person or virtually?

I currently only provide tele-health. I use a HIPAA secure platform for virtual meetings.

How long are sessions?

Sessions are most often 53 minutes. There are times that it may be clinically relevant to do two, half-hour sessions a week.

How much does a session cost?

The cost varies on what the service is. For individual therapy 53 minute sessions, my price ranges from $150 - 200, with sliding scale available for under $150. Sliding scale rates are determined based in conversation with Maveryck. I use Headway for my insurance billing and scheduling. For more information about fees and rates, refer to my Fees tab.

For group therapy, prices vary based on the group. Please refer to the Services tab for the most up-to-date information on group offering and rates.

Do you take insurance?

Yes I do! A full list of insurances I currently accept and my rates for self-pay services can be found on my Fees page.

What is therapy like?

Therapy is a collaborative and confidential space to explore your thoughts, feelings, beliefs, behaviors, and patterns with a trained mental health provider. Therapy can incorporate many different activities such as learning and developing coping skills for your anxiety, it may be using Internal Family Systems to help guide a part of you that has been around since a traumatic experience, or it may be exploring your identity (and so many more things).

Therapy can be emotionally, mentally, and physically draining as we discuss topics that are sensitive and emotional. I like to equate therapy to a workout: it may be challenging at times and you might need to do some extra care after similar to a post-workout when you might stretch. If therapy leaves you feeling incapable of functioning or very distressed, that means therapy needs to be adjusted to be lighter and help you contain the emotional, mental, and physical impact.

Some times therapy may incorporate work between sessions to help you build your skills, feel more regulated, and work towards your identified goals. An hour of therapy a week is not a lot of time! Implementing changes between sessions can aid in reaching your goals.

Therapy is not to “fix” you or give you answers on how to live your life. Therapy is a process to help you discover the answers within yourself and help you live in better alignment with your values, your goals, and your everyday life.

Some folks come to therapy and are looking to work thru their previous traumas, some may be in therapy to process if they are ready to make a big change in their life, to explore their identity, and more. Therapy is a process of processing, discovering, and realigning with yourself and your values.

While I believe therapy is for everybody, not every therapist is a good fit for your needs, desires, and what you’re hoping to achieve. While I can tailor our work together to hopefully meet your needs, sometimes we aren’t the right match together based on personality, vibe, and you may want a specific modality such as EMDR that I am not trained. That happens and is totally okay! If this happens, we will work together to identify another provider for you that better fits your needs.

What happens in a consultation call?

In the free, 15 minute consultation calls, we will talk about what is bringing you to search for a therapist, what you’re looking for in a therapist, and I will share about my approaches to therapy, insurances and fees, and any other questions you might have. If you decide you’d like to move forward with working together, we will then identify a time for an intake appointment.

The consultation is a time for you to ask any questions you have and ensure that you’re getting a therapist that meets the needs and desires you have in a provider.

How long does someone stay in therapy?

A person’s length of care depends greatly on their desires, goals, and level of progress. Some folks want to do therapy for six months and achieve their goals and terminate. Some individuals prefer to have ongoing therapy to have a space to process life stressors, past traumas, and more. Length of treatment is something we will discuss in your intake and can discuss at any time!
